Small List of Casino Glossary

Casino world is different than the outer world. When you enter a casino, you will find players speaking a different language - its own Casino Language. You have to be familiar with some common terms to start-off into gambling world. Here is a short casino, poker or gambling glossary :
Action - Amount of $$$ placed in the pot on entering casino
Active Player - one who is still in the game.
Banker - same as dealer in card games who take charge of a particular play.
Bankroll - Amount of money he/she is willing to spend in casino
Bet - to put a wager
Betting limits - max/min you can allowed to bet
Blackjack - 2 cards containing an ace and a ten
Blacks - 100$ chips
Boat - often used for full house
Buck - $100 bet
Bug - joker
Check - single chip
Chips - tokens which are bought by exchanging cash of same value
Deal - to distribute or deal out the cards in players hand
Dealer - person who deals the game - mostly a person of casino
Dime - $1000 bet
Eye in the sky - spy cameras in the casino walls for security
Face cards - any king, queen or jack
Four of a kind - four similar cards of same denomination , mostly in poker
Full house - hand with a pair and a three of a kind
Gambling - taking a voluntary risk of spending money on the outcome of a game
Hand - cards holded by the players.
Hard hand - any hand without an ace
Hole card - un-exposed downside card of dealer
Jackpot - a pair that pays only when the pair is of jacks, queens, kings or aces
Nickels or reds - 5$ red chips

Quarters or greens - 20$ green chips
Pit boss - a staff member who acts as a boss of sub-area of casino
Push - a tie game
Rake - fee taken by the casino for organizing the game , around 5-10%
Royal Flush - five consecutive cards of same suit from 10 to ace ie. a 10, jack, queen, king and ace of same suit.
Slots - a slot machine
Straight - five consecutive denomation cards of different suit
Straight flush - a straight with same suit
Suit - Clubs, diamonds, spades, diamonds are 4 suites in a deck
Three of a kind or Trip - three cards of same denomaination - suit can be same/different
Table game - e.g. blackjack, roulette, which is played against a dealer.
Vigorish or vig - same as Rake
Wager - to make bet
White - $1 chip usually
Wild Card - a joker which can replace any card.
